The churchwardens (with the Rector) comprise the Corporation of the Parish. 

Their duty is to care for the business affairs of the congregation, the employment of lay employees,

the overall care and maintenance of the church buildings, and property and finance.  

The Corporation is the legal entity of the parish.  We have two churchwardens, and two deputy churchwardens. 

The term of a churchwarden usually runs three (or four) years: 

the first year, one becomes a deputy warden, the second year a warden, and the third year a deputy again.  One or two wardens may be elected each year.
